Biography

JIM HALL (guitarist, composer, arranger) was born December 4, 1930 in Buffalo, N.Y. Hall studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music before moving to L.A. and garnering national and international notice in the late 1950s. New York based Hall, a favourite among the jazz community, has worked with many of the greatest names in jazz: Sonny Rollins, Art Farmer, Bill Evans, Ron Carter, Don Thompson, Dave Holland and Christian McBride. He continues to perform and record with his own trios and has composed orchestral and choral works. Hall was awarded an NEA Jazz Masters Fellowship in 2004.
